Police Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers play a vital role in the Ault Police Department’s mission of service to the communities we serve. Our volunteers are provided the training and knowledge to function alongside our paid members in the specific role they were trained to do. The Ault Police Department has the following volunteer opportunities:

Reserve Police Officer

Reserve Police Officers are sworn, POST certified, volunteers who function within the patrol division of the Ault Police Department. They provide all services and enforcement of a Police Officer and are an asset to the community. This position is sworn and requires adherence to strict training, policy and procedure. Open positions will be posted under the jobs section of the Town of Ault website.

Reserve Police Officer requirements include:
– must be 21 years of age
– must have high school diploma or GED
– must be a citizen of the United States or legally authorized for employment within the US
– must be willing to travel to Ault for regular trainings and meetings
– must possess a valid Colorado driver’s license
– must pass a background check
– must have current and valid Colorado POST certification
– no felony arrests or convictions
– no disqualifying misdemeanor arrests or convictions as set by POST

Time Requirements:
– must attend mandatory monthly training
– must complete 20 hours of volunteer service per month

Reserve Community Service Officer

Reserve CSO’s are civilian, non-sworn volunteers who have an interest in law enforcement. They assist the Police Department in various ways by working closely with officers and investigators. Reserve CSO’s will also give crime prevention presentations, provide traffic control, patrol special events and provide crime scene security. There are many other service-related duties that this position can assist and handle. Members of the community are encouraged to join the Ault Police Department’s Reserve Division as a Community Service Officer! Law enforcement knowledge is encouraged, but not required! Volunteer Victim’s Advocate (Greeley PD Victim’s Assistance Unit)

Volunteer Victim’s Advocates respond upon request to secure crime scenes or other specified locations to provide emotional support and service referral information to crime victims and others in crisis and in need of assistance. They provide follow-up as appropriate. The volunteer victim’s advocate is a civilian, non-sworn position and volunteers play a vital role in the criminal justice process.
