Welcome to Ault, Colorado!
Originally known as High Land and later as Burgdorff Siding, the town was renamed in 1897 after Alexander Ault, a local hero who saved the agricultural community from financial ruin by purchasing the entire grain harvest during a time of economic hardship. Ault was incorporated in 1904 and is located along a north-south segment of the Union Pacific Railroad, connecting Denver, Colorado, and Cheyenne, Wyoming. Much of the town's residential area and surrounding farmland sits on land initially given by the United States government to the railroad for construction financing.
